Tahiti

It’s a long way to get to French Polynesia, where Tahiti is the largest island and Papeete is the capital (and city you fly into). Morea and Bora Bora are additional well-known islands in this country that is spread out over thousands of miles of the South Pacific. (Trivia fact: Tahiti is actually east, as well as south, of Hawaii). In terms of idyllic island life, Tahiti is the ultimate – as we have known since Impressionist painter Paul Gauguin brought the islands to our attention a hundred years ago. A multi-island cruise gives the best sense of the island group and while each island has its uniqueness, they do begin to all look alike after a while. If you’ve got money you can stay at the over-water bungalows that present the ultimate honeymoon location, but if you have less money there is a wide range of hotels throughout the islands. Other than nominal sightseeing there is nothing to really do here, except what all honeymooners are looking to do. if you are looking to read, relax and lay low, you’ll like Tahiti. Also, if you are looking to jump off to Easter Island (2500 miles away), this is one of only two places to departure points (the other being Santiago, Chile).
